　　Being a mature student does not mean being anold-timer. Mature is not measured by the number of years a person has lived.Instead, they yardstick of maturity is marked by the qualities of self-denial, determination,and dependability.

　　做一個(gè)成熟的學(xué)生并不意味著成為一個(gè)老前輩。成熟不是用一個(gè)人生活的年限來衡量的。相反，成熟的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)應(yīng)該用自我否定，決心和可靠性等品質(zhì)來衡量。

　　Self-denial is an important quality of a maturestudent. The word “Self-denial” means restraining being strict with oneself. Sometimes,people define it as self-discipline which has a bias passive meaning.Self-denial is not making a lot of rules and regulations to layer upon layer tomanacle oneself, but with the autonomic action to create an order for our studylife. We always have great dreams, have magnificent ideals and have grand prospects;however, they are often postponed or even vanished by ourselves due to the lackof self-denial. We should put our ideas into practice. Besides, self-denialalso means denying yourself and controlling your impulses. Nobody is perfect. Facedwith mistakes, we should take measures to modify it and never behaveimpulsively.

　　自我否定是一個(gè)成熟學(xué)生的一項(xiàng)重要品質(zhì)�！白晕曳穸ā币辉~意味著嚴(yán)于律己。有時(shí)候，人們把它定義為自律，有點(diǎn)偏見的消極意義。自我否定不是制定大量的層層規(guī)章制度來束縛自己，而是用自主行動(dòng)給我們的學(xué)習(xí)生活形成秩序。我們總是懷有偉大的夢想，宏偉的理想和盛大的前景；然而，他們常常由于缺乏自我否定而被自己耽誤甚至是消失。我們應(yīng)該把我們的想法付諸實(shí)踐。此外，自我否定也意味著否定自己和控制你的沖動(dòng)。人無完人。面對(duì)錯(cuò)誤，我們應(yīng)該采取措施進(jìn)行改正，不要沖動(dòng)。

　　Determination is another characteristic of a maturestudent .What we define determination is to take up your mind to act decidedlyand take the consequences. Determination not only means decision but alsopractice. In China, there is a famous fable “the foolish old man removed themountains”, which presents spirits of firm determination and perseverance. Nogood is ever done by hesitation in the world. It is known that Buffet, everytime his investment will get a hugereturn, because he is well prepared in advance and determined what makes hispay shall be multiplied.

　　決心是成熟學(xué)生的另一個(gè)特點(diǎn)。我們把決心定義為下定決心行動(dòng)并承擔(dān)后果。決心不僅僅是指決定，也指行動(dòng)。中國有個(gè)著名的寓言故事“愚公移山”，展現(xiàn)了一種堅(jiān)定的決心和毅力的精神。世界上沒有猶豫可以做成事的.。據(jù)了解，巴菲特的每次投資都可以獲得大回報(bào)，因?yàn)樗麑?shí)現(xiàn)做好了準(zhǔn)備，知道什么能夠使他付出的得到翻倍。

　　Although self-denial and determination are both vital,probably the most important measure of maturity is dependability. When we talkabout a person who is dependable means he is worthy of reliance or trusts. Ifyou are committed to transmit some secret documents to a company, you must berequired dependable. Sometimes dependability refers to responsibility. Judginga person whether he is mature or not, responsibility is the key factor, becauseonly the person with responsibility is worthy of being depended on.

　　盡管自我否定和決心都很重要，成熟最重要的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)是可靠性。當(dāng)我們說一個(gè)人可靠的時(shí)候我們指的是他值得依靠或信任。如果你從事傳送一些公司機(jī)密文件的工作，你必須可靠。有時(shí)候，可靠性就是責(zé)任。判斷一個(gè)人是否成熟，責(zé)任是關(guān)鍵因素，因?yàn)橹挥幸粋�(gè)有責(zé)任心的人才值得依靠。

　　In conclusion, if a student who owns the qualities ofself-denial, determination and dependability, he can say that he is a maturestudent with pride; otherwise he can’t. If you really can develop the threequalities, you really comprehend the meaning of maturity.

　　總是，如果一個(gè)學(xué)生擁有自我否定，決心和可靠性，他可以自豪地說自己是一個(gè)成熟的學(xué)生，否則就不可以。如果你真正能夠發(fā)展以上三種品質(zhì)，你就真正理解了成熟的意義。
