Good afternoon,everyone!
Welcome to our school! The topic I’m going to talk about is the choice between arts and science. As is known to all, students in china can’t study both arts and science. Therefore, a choice between them is bound to be made.
At the end of my first year in high school, I decided to study science rather than arts. And the reasons are as follows: The most important one is that I love science, which can show me the mysteries of nature and the universe. What’s more, I’m good at it.So,it is far easier for me to learn science than arts. Last but not least, I want to become a scientist in the future. It is science that will equip me with necessary abilities.
Now, years have passed, and my affection for science is much greater than before. I hold the view firmly that my choice is absolutely right.
Thanks!
i happened to chance upon this poem a while ago when i was checking my email. do not stand at my grave and weep is a poem largely considered to be written by mary elizabeth frye (1904-), but of disputed origin. of course the reason i am sharing this remarkable verse here is not to discuss who is the original author but to share with you the power and wisdom in the words. it was said that frye first wrote this poem in 1932 for a german jewish friend, margaret schwarzkopf. margaret schwarzkopf had been worrying about her mother, who was ill in germany. the rise of anti-semitism had made it unwise for her to join her mother. when her mother died, she told mary frye she had not had the chance to stand by her mother’s grave and weep.
frye wrote the poem as part of her condolences. like frye who wrote this inspiring verse for her friend, i would like to share this remarkable verse with you and to the survivors of myanmar’s (burma) cyclone and china’s earthquake. may this poem inspires, consoles and strengthens their human spirits.
do not stand at my grave and weep
do not stand at my grave and weep,
i am not there, i do not sleep.
i am in a thousand winds that blow,
i am the softly falling snow.
i am the gentle showers of rain,
i am the fields of ripening grain.
i am in the morning hush,
i am in the graceful rush.
of beautiful birds in circling flight,
i am the starshine of the night.
i am in the flowers that bloom,
i am in a quiet room.
i am in the birds that sing,
i am in each lovely thing.
do not stand at my grave and cry,
i am not there.
i do not die.
Everyone has his dreams, but not all these dreams can come true. People give up their dreams for this or that reason. Those whose dreams become true have at least one thing in common, that is, they always hold fast to their dreams.
Marie Curie, a famous scientist, has set a good example. In 1898, Marie found a new element in the pitchblende. In order to prove her discovery, she must get it and show it to the world. Then to get the new element became her dream and goal of her life. After four years' hard work and refinement of tons of pitchblende, Marie and her hus-band at last saw the dim blue light of the new element -- radium. Her dream had come true. There are many other examples. Just around us, for instance, the athletes who gain the gold medals, the artists who are popular with the public, and even the students who enter tile university after years of hard study and preparation, are all dream-holders.
Hold fast to your dreams, no matter how big or small they are. The path to dreams may not be smooth and wide, even some sacrifices are needed, but hold on to the end, you ,sill find there is no greater happiness than making your dream come true.

The Enthusiasm For Sports
Though PE class is a part of children’s education, many teenagers didn’t form the habit of doing exercise, they don’t have interest in sports. Enthusiasm for sports is of great importance, young people should treat it as their integral part of education. On the one hand, promoting enthusiasm for sports among teenagers helps them keep a healthy lifestyle. In the school, students are forced to take exercise in the PE class, they need to join certain activities. In this way, students live in a healthy lifestyle, they won’t get sick easily. Union Is Strength
I like to play basketball very much, so when I went to middle school, I joined the basketball team. Last week, our team had a match, we were against another school, all of us were so excited and wanted to win. When the match began, our team worked very slowly, we could not cooperate very well, because this was the first time for us to play. When half match time went, we lagged behind, our team leader called us together and told us we must get united, so that we could have the chance to win. Then we played hard and cooperated so well, we won the game at last, it was so amazing, union is strength.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Some people take the view that sometimes in life we have to take chances in order to make progress. I admire such people. It certainly takes guts to take risks. Maybe it's because of my upbringing, but I am the type who usually plays it safe.
People like me prefer the saying, "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." Conservative as it may be, it keeps me out of trouble. I must confess, however, that leading such a moderate life may, at times, be boring. Admittedly, my life is not half as colorful or exciting as other people's but at least it gives me a sense of security.
