Only reading be self-motivated people can learn knowledge, otherwise, will become ignorant. I think, we should like to read books, love reading. I remember that du may once said a words: "reading make people relaxed and happy."
There is a famous saying: "read volumes, such as writing." Reading has many benefits, reading can let us growth knowledge; Reading books can broaden our vision; Reading can let we collected many good words we segment. In reading a book, I deeply feel: books are immense ocean, book is the sky of knowledge, books are endless prairie.
Gorky once said such a words: "books are the ladder of human progress." "I rushed in a book is like a hungry person sees a loaf of bread." Yes, books can cultivate people's sentiment, it can make us relax and breathe the fresh air. I think, love is never wrong, books can make us get rid of a lot of bad habits. It's good to read! Reading makes I aspire to be a useful person to society, I want to be like the beloved premier zhou "reading for the rise of the Chinese," we only have small to read and study hard, to master the knowledge, grow up, can we use our talents to serve human, repay our dear motherland.
Let us act quickly, to book sea roam! Then you will realize the Shakespeare's words: "life without books, just like without the sun, wisdom without books, like a bird without wings." The refraction of the truth.
John F.
Kennedy: Inaugural AddressVice President Johnson, Mr.Speaker, Mr.Chief Justice, President Eisenhower, Vice President Nixon, President Truman, Reverend Clergy, fellow citizens:We observe today not a victory of party, but a celebration of freedom -- symbolizing an end, as well as a beginning -- signifying renewal, as well as change.
For I have sworn before you and Almighty God the same solemn oath our forebears prescribed nearly a century and three-quarters ago.The world is very different now.
For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life.
And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe -- the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God.We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution.
Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans -- born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage, and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world.Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and the success of liberty. This much we pledge -- and more.To those old allies whose cultural and spiritual origins we share, we pledge the loyalty of faithful friends.
United there is little we cannot do in a host of cooperative ventures.
Divided there is little we can do -- for we dare not meet a powerful challenge at odds and split asunder. To those new states whom we welcome to the ranks of the free, we pledge our word that one form of colonial control shall not have passed away merely to be replaced by a far more iron tyranny.
We shall not always expect to find them supporting our view.
But we shall always hope to find them strongly supporting their own freedom -- and to remember that, in the past, those who foolishly sought power by riding the back of the tiger ended up inside. To those people in the huts and villages of half the globe struggling to break the bonds of mass misery, we pledge our best efforts to help them help themselves, for whatever period is required -- not because the Communists may be doing it, not because we seek their votes, but because it is right.
If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich.To our sister republics south of our border, we offer a special pledge: to convert our good words into good deeds, in a new alliance for progress, to assist free men and free governments in casting off the chains of poverty.
But this peaceful revolution of hope cannot become the prey of hostile powers.
Let all our neighbors know that we shall join with them to oppose aggression or subversion anywhere in the Americas.
And let every other power know that this hemisphere intends to remain the master of its own house. To that world assembly of sovereign states, the United Nations, our last best hope in an age where the instruments of war have far outpaced the instruments of peace, we renew our pledge of support -- to prevent it from becoming merely a forum for invective, to strengthen its shield of the new and the weak, and to enlarge the area in which its writ may run. Finally, to those nations who would make themselves our adversary, we offer not a pledge but a request: that both sides begin anew the quest for peace, before the dark powers of destruction unleashed by science engulf all humanity in planned or accidental self-destruction.We dare not tempt them with weakness.
For only when our arms are sufficient beyond doubt can we be certain beyond doubt that they will never be employed. But neither can two great and powerful groups of nations take comfort from our present course -- both sides overburdened by the cost of modern weapons, both rightly alarmed by the steady spread of the deadly atom, yet both racing to alter that uncertain balance of terror that stays the hand of mankinds final war.So let us begin anew -- remembering on both sides that civility is not a sign of weakness, and sincerity is always subject to proof.
Let us never negotiate out of fear, but let us never fear to negotiate.Let both sides explore what problems unite us instead of belaboring those problems which divide us.Let both sides, for the first time, formulate serious and precise proposals for the inspection and control of arms, and bring the absolute power to destroy other nations under the absolute control of all nations.Let both sides seek to invoke the wonders of science instead of its terrors.
Together let us explore the stars, conquer the deserts, eradicate disease, tap the ocean depths, and encourage the arts and commerce.Let both sides unite to heed, in all corners of the earth, the command of Isaiah -- to undo the heavy burdens, and [to] let the oppressed go free. And, if a beachhead of cooperation may push back the jungle of suspicion, let both sides join in creating a new endeavor -- not a new balance of power, but a new world of law -- where the strong are just, and the weak secure, and the peace preserved. All this will not be finished in the first one hundred days.
Nor will it be finished in the first one thousand days; nor in the life of this Administration; nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet.
But let us begin. In your hands, my fellow citizens, more than mine, will rest the final success or failure of our course.
Since this country was founded, each generation of Americans has been summoned to give testimony to its national loyalty.
The graves of young Americans who answered the call to service surround the globe. Now the trumpet summons us again -- not as a call to bear arms, though arms we need -- not as a call to battle, though embattled we are -- but a call to bear the burden of a long twilight struggle, year in and year out, rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation, a struggle against the common enemies of man: tyranny, poverty, disease, and war itself. Can we forge against these enemies a grand and global alliance, North and South, East and West, that can assure a more fruitful life for all mankind? Will you join in that historic effort? In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger.
I do not shrink from this responsibility -- I welcome it.
I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation.
The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it.
And the glow from that fire can truly light the world. And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world, ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man. Finally, whether you are citizens of America or citizens of the world, ask of us here the same high standards of strength and sacrifice which we ask of you.
With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth Gods work must truly be our own.
1. abc corporation. may i help you?
一般接起電話的人通常會(huì)先報(bào)公司的名字"abc corporation",然后再說, "may i help you?"或是如果要更客氣一點(diǎn)的話則可以說"how can i help you?" 但基本上"may i help you?"跟"how can i help you?"
不過如果是機(jī)器接的電話,則聽到的多半是這樣, "thanks for calling abc corporation, if you know your party's last name or extention, press 1. if you want to recieve information or publication, press 2. if you want to talk to the operator, press pound sign or remain on the line."
2. and you are?
你是?
如果人家打電話來是要找你的上司, "may i talk to your manager?" 最客氣的問法是, "whom i am speaking with?"或是"whom am i talking to?"
像是"and you are?" 而且事實(shí)上"and you are?" 來訪的客人如果說, "i'm looking for mr. wolf."
3. i'll put her on the phone. just a second.
put someone on the phone這個(gè)片語就是說請某人聽電話. 什么時(shí)候要結(jié)婚啦,這時(shí)如果你實(shí)在不想跟她講了,就可以說, "could you please just put her on the phone?" 反過來如果今天是你接到了電話,結(jié)果要找的是別人,你就可以說, "ok. i'll put her on the phone. just a second."
例如同樣的情況你可以說,"i'm transferring your call."或是"i'm redirecting your call." 或是, "ok. i'll put you through."
4. would you mind holding for one minute?
在美國如果有機(jī)會(huì)打電話給客戶服務(wù)(customer service)部門,如果沒意外的話都會(huì)聽到以下的電話錄音, "all of our representitives are currently busy serving their customers. your call will be answered in approximate 5 minutes" (我們所有的客服人員都在忙著服務(wù)他們的顧客,請等五分鐘后,就會(huì)有人接聽你的電話),然后十分鐘過去了, "please continue to hold, your call is very important to us." 如果萬不得已一定要請他稍候,我們要客氣一點(diǎn)地說,"would you mind holding for one minute?" 但是如果一分鐘到了你還沒忙完,則最好再說一次,"sorry, i am still on the phone. could you hold for another minute?"
5. he's out for lunch. would you like to try again an hour later?
受到中文的影響,許多人要講某人‘出去'吃午餐了常會(huì)說成, "he went out for lunch."其實(shí)這個(gè)went是多余的,通常老美只講be out for something就行了。如果要再簡化一點(diǎn),單說, "he is on lunch."或是"he is on (lunch) break."
例如你可以建議別人,"why don't you call back in 30 minutes?" 第二種選擇就是請對方留言,客氣一點(diǎn)的講法是,"may i take your message?"或是"would you like to leave a message?"

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! Thank you for giving me such an opportunity to stand here. I feel much honorable this morning .Why? Because I’m very glad to share my topic with you. Now I’d like to talk you something about success.
After many years’ of hard work, we finally came to Hu Bei university. But this is not an end, but a beginning. We are likely to meet lots of difficulity and all kinds of challenges in the near future . Therefore, how should we go to face these frustration? What shall we do to overcome these difficulity and make success? Maybe these are we should think about forever in our life time.
As far as I’m concerned ;There are many factors that can lead to success. But I think the most three important things are perspiration, perseverance and self-confidence.
Edison said “Genius is one percent persperation and ninety-nine percent inspiration. ” People often say “ No pains, no gains.” That’s undoubtedly right. So if you want to achieve something ,you must work
harder and harder. You should pay more attention to your work ,too.
In our college life ,we may fall across much more difficulity. At that time,we can’t be afraid of it. We should be brave and strong. We need to overcome these frustation by our strong perseverance. Thus we can make more progress.
Every day ,we should believe in ourselves , then we will have much confidence to finish some difficult projects . What’s more, we are able to overcome all the setbacks in our life.
Only in this way ,will we be ready for making great achievements in our daily life.
Ok, this all I want to say. Wish you all good success!
Finally ,I need to thank you for your listening .

Dear teachers and students,
Good afternoon!
I am xx from class one, grade two. I feel very happy to stand here today to give a speech. Speaking of happiness, for us children, it may be a piece of sweet candy, it may be a beautiful dress, or it may be a novel toy. And this kind of happy feeling is often short, is there a long - term happiness? I would say yes, yes! That is a child has that is higher than the mountains, deeper than the sea of maternal love. Mother is the sun in my home, with her in, there is warmth. When the first ray of sunshine in the morning into the window, I opened the hazy eyes, see is the mother busy figure, ear heard is the mother urged me to get up. I enjoy my mother's love, like a happy bird every day happy heart.

we are the world ,we are the future someone said “we are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book, whose pages are infinite”. i don’t know who wrote these words, but i’ve always liked them as a reminder that the future can be anything we want it to be. we are all in the position of the farmers.
if we plant a good seed ,we reap a good harvest. if we plant nothing at all, we harvest nothing at all. we are young. “how to spend the youth?” it is a meaningful question. to answer it, first i have to ask “what do you understand by the word youth?” youth is not a time of life, it’s a state of mind. it’s not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips or supple knees.
it’s the matter of the will. it’s the freshness of the deep spring of life. a poet said “to see a world in a grain of sand, and a heaven in a wild flower, hold infinity in the palm of your hand, and eternity in an hour. several days ago, i had a chance to listen to a lecture. i learnt a lot there. i’d like to share it with all of you. let’s show our right palms. we can see three lines that show how our love.career and life is. i have a short line of life. what about yours? i wondered whether we could see our future in this way. well, let’s make a fist. where is our future?
where is our love, career, and life? tell me.yeah, it is in our hands. it is held in ourselves. we all want the future to be better than the past. but the future can go better itself. don’t cry because it is over, smile because it happened. from the past, we’ve learnt that the life is tough, but we are tougher. we’ve learnt that we can’t choose how we feel, but we can choose what about it. failure doesn’t mean you don’t have it, it does mean you should do it in a different way. failure doesn’t mean you should give up, it does mean you must try harder. as what i said at the beginning, “we are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book, whose pages are infinite”. the past has gone. nothing we do will change it.
but the future is in front of us. believe that what we give to the world, the world will give to us. and from today on, let’s be the owners of ourselves, and speak out “we are the world, we are the future.”

As everyone knows,English is very important today. It has been used everywhere in the world. It has become the most common language on Internet and for international trade.
If we can speak English well,we will have more chance to succeed.Because more and more people have taken notice of it,the number of the people who go to learn English has increased at a high speed. But for myself,I learn English not only because of its importance and its usefulness, but also because of my love for it.When I learn English, I can feel a different way of thinking which gives me more room to touch the world. When I read English novels,I can feel the pleasure from the book which is different from reading the translation. When I speak English, I can feel the confident from my words. When I write English,I can see the beauty which is not the same as our Chinese...
I love English,it gives me a colorful dream.I hope I can travel around the world one day. With my good English, I can make friends with many people from different contries.
I can see many places of great intrests.I dream that I can go to London, because it is the birth place of English.
I also want to use my good English to introduce our great places to the English spoken people,I hope that they can love our country like us. I know, Rome was not built in a day. I believe that after continuous hard study, one day I can speak English very well. If you want to be loved, you should learn to love and be lovable. So I believe as I love English everyday , it will love me too. I am sure that I will realize my dream one day! Thank you!

Good morning/evening/afternoon, ladies and gentlemen :
Today, my speech is about talents,in my opionion, talents are indispensable in nowadays society. as is known to all that the fight among countries is actually the fight among talents. first, id like to define the wordtalent in my idea, a talent is one person who is good at or expertised in some or multiple areas. nowadays, as the world developing goes on , if one country want to rank top or do a good job in the world, the country must have many talents.for example, china, the biggest developing country in the world, in the past 100 years, is always invaded by other countries, why ,the reason is that china at that time had not so many talents. if they had anti-intrusion leader talents in the war, needless to say, they would have beat those big powers.if they had talents in weapons manufacturing, nodody dares to provoke us.however, nowadays, its a totally different situation, china has become powerfulin all over the world, why ? because there are many talents serving the country, the civilians become more and more literated.more and more people go to university, more and more people come to receive
Further education. so what is that in return, talents in army protect our country from invasion, talents in commerce help make our economy keep in improving, talents in aerospace make the world see chinese manned spacecraft flying. talents in sports make china rank the first in the olympic games to sum up, talents will play a more and more impoetant role in the world, if one country intends to flourish, he must foster talents as many as they can ,thats all, thank you.

Honourable judges, ladies and gentlemen,
Good afternoon! Today I would like to talk about the importance of keeping optimistic。 When we encounter difficulties in life, we notice that some of us choose to bury their heads in the sand。 Unfortunately, however, this attitude will do you no good, because if you will have no courage even to face them, how can you conquer them? Thus, be optimistic, ladies and gentlemen, as it can give you confidence and help you see yourself through the hard times, just as Winston Churchill once said, “An optimist sees an opportunity in every calamity; a pessimist sees a calamity in every opportunity!
Ladies and Gentlemen, keeping optimistic, you will be able to realize, in spite of some hardship, there’s always hope waiting for you, which will lead you to the ultimate success。 Historically as well as currently, there are too many optimists of this kind to enumerate。 You see, Thomas Edison is optimistic; if not, the light of hope in his heart could not illuminate the whole world。 Alfred Nobel is optimistic; if not, the explosives and the prestigious Nobel Prize would not have e into being。 And Lance Armstrong is also optimistic; if not, the devil of cancer would have devoured his life and the world would not see a 5-time winner of the Tour De France。
A rose may be beautiful, or maybe not; that depends on your attitude only, and so does success, so does life。 Hindrances and difficulties do exist, but if you are optimistic, then they are only episodes on your long way to the throne of success; they are more bridges than obstacles! Now I prefer to end my speech with the great British poet Shelley’s lines: “If winter es, can spring be far behind?” Thank you!

Good afternoon, class.
Many students like getting online very much. they think on the internet they can get some information, play some educational games and these games help them learn a lot. they can also make friends online.
But there is also something bad getting online. It takes students too much time, so they do worse in their lessons. Spending too much time online is also bad for their health. I don't think they should spend too much time getting online. I think they should put their hearts into their studies.
