引起讀者興趣的話題
例如在寫關(guān)于體罰的話題文章時(shí)，采用這樣一個(gè)開頭：
It is reported that a boy in Zhuhai was beaten to death by his father onFather' Day. Ample evidence also shows that children who are frequently abusedby their parents or teachers tend to be introverted, pessimistic, indifferentand even world-weary. Recently, there has arisen a fierce argument on whethercorporal punishment should be abolished. Teachers, parents and experts takediverse attitudes towards this issue.

呈現(xiàn)該話題正反方的觀點(diǎn)
例如在寫到男性和女性誰可以做更好的父母時(shí)可以這樣開頭：

在開頭提出兩種不同的觀點(diǎn)，不同的讀者可以根據(jù)自己對(duì)問題的看法進(jìn)行思考，從而引發(fā)讀者的探究心理，進(jìn)一步思考這個(gè)問題從而得出結(jié)論。
引用名人名言、諺語等作為文章的開頭
例如在寫到先天跟后天哪一個(gè)更重要時(shí)，“Genius is two percent inspiration and ninety-eightpercent perspiration” is the opinion held by Edison. This remark has beenconfirmed time and again by more and more people.
“天才是百分之二的靈感，百分之九十八的汗水”是愛迪生的觀點(diǎn)，而且反復(fù)被越來越多的人所證實(shí)，通過引用名人名言揭示了文章的主題，為下文很好地做了鋪墊。
對(duì)將要討論的話題進(jìn)行定義
例如在寫到Globalization時(shí)：
Globalization-the international spread of products, ideas andinformation-is bringing the world closer together. But globalization is not anew concept. For thousands of years, nations have roamed the earth in search ofnew markets and new sources of raw materials for their own industries.
關(guān)于"全球化"這個(gè)名詞，考生并不陌生，但是怎樣用合理的語言來賦予它一個(gè)含義，這并非易事，上述的引言段就很好地做到了這一點(diǎn)，先是從字面上詮釋了"全球化"的定義，進(jìn)而又從實(shí)際生活角度賦予了它另外一層含義。
追根溯源法
即從題目給出的話題中找出這個(gè)現(xiàn)象產(chǎn)生的原因來擴(kuò)展背景句。這種方法適合大多數(shù)的'話題。例如There are social, medical andtechnical problems associated with the use of mobile phones. What forms do theytake? Do you agree that the problems outweigh the benefits of mobilephone?
這個(gè)題目中給出的話題是mobile phone,所以考生可以從它產(chǎn)生的原因來考慮，就是科技的繁榮，而科技的繁榮，手機(jī)的廣泛使用是在20世紀(jì)末，這樣背景句就有內(nèi)容可寫了。當(dāng)然要通過相應(yīng)的句型來寫，這個(gè)背景句就可以寫成：
The late 20th century witnessed the boom of science and technology, whichgave rise to a series of technological innovations, including the mobilephone.
再比如另外一道題目：
Nowadays, some universities offer students skills that assist them to findemployment, but some people believe that the main function of a universityshould be to provide students with access to knowledge for its sake. What isyour opinion?
這題要求大家討論大學(xué)是提供職業(yè)技能還是傳授知識(shí)。從傳統(tǒng)觀點(diǎn)來看，大學(xué)是傳授知識(shí)的地方，為什么會(huì)提出要傳授技能呢?所以這里考生也可以用追根溯源法思考一下，大家肯定可以想到是由于找工作已經(jīng)成為當(dāng)今教育的目的之一了，所以很多大學(xué)就轉(zhuǎn)移到以傳授技能為主了。

重述法
即對(duì)關(guān)于這個(gè)話題的當(dāng)前現(xiàn)狀的重述。
舉個(gè)例子：
Nowadays, people are facing more and more work-related stress. State thepossible reasons for this phenomenon and make some recommendations about how tocombat it.
本題的話題關(guān)于壓力，那考生可從當(dāng)前社會(huì)現(xiàn)象來考慮這個(gè)問題，考生不難想出當(dāng)下對(duì)壓力這一現(xiàn)象的情況，即很多人都在承受著或多或少的壓力。可用it isgenerally believed that … 形式主語的句型。

再看一例：

本題話題為環(huán)境問題，考生也可用重述法對(duì)當(dāng)前環(huán)境問題進(jìn)行重述，這時(shí)，可以用In modern society/ At present,等表時(shí)間的介詞短語來引導(dǎo)一個(gè)敘述句型。

定義法
即通過對(duì)話題詞的定義的介紹，這種方法有一定難度，考生需要有淵博的知識(shí)，才能做到對(duì)名詞的解釋，但對(duì)特別明顯的詞語，考生可借鑒這種方法。
舉個(gè)例子：
The main purpose of public libraries is to provide books and they shouldnot waste their limited resources and space on providing expensive hi-tech mediasuch as computer software, videos and DVDs. To what extent do you agree ordisagree with this statement?
本題中的話題詞為圖書館，可以解釋的詞也是圖書館比較方便容易。那么到底怎樣解釋呢，比如說圖書館在傳統(tǒng)意義上來看，是收藏書的地方，而現(xiàn)在因?yàn)榭萍及l(fā)展，使得圖書館的意義發(fā)生改變，從而引出話題。這里同樣可以用形式主語：
It is generally believed that public libraries are places with a largecollection of books; however, the digital time has given .it a new means ofstoring and retrieving information.
