1. way + 定語(yǔ)從句
例1：
① I don’t like the way in which you speak to her.
�、凇 don’t like the way that you speak to her.
③ I don’t like the way you speak to her.
解析：在句1中，which代指先行詞the way，定語(yǔ)從句的邏輯語(yǔ)序?yàn)閥ou speak to her in which，意為“你用那種方式和她說話”。因which代指the way，故用in和which搭配。分析從句的成分可知，in which在從句中為方式狀語(yǔ)。
根據(jù)定語(yǔ)從句的句法規(guī)則，in which引導(dǎo)定語(yǔ)從句作方式狀語(yǔ)時(shí)，in which也可使用that代替，或者省略引導(dǎo)詞，也就是句2和句3的表達(dá)方式都是正確的。需要注意的是，句2中的that并非前文所說的代詞性的that代指先行詞的常規(guī)用法，而是副詞作方式狀語(yǔ)，相當(dāng)于in which。
句2與句3正確的前提是引導(dǎo)詞在從中作狀語(yǔ)，并非the way后的定語(yǔ)從句都是如此。如：

解析：先行詞為the way，_______ I don’t like為定語(yǔ)從句，其邏輯語(yǔ)序應(yīng)為I don’t like ____，引導(dǎo)詞應(yīng)代指先行詞在從句中作賓語(yǔ)，故用that或which都可以。又因?yàn)橐龑?dǎo)詞是從句的賓語(yǔ)，因此也可省略，即下面的三種表達(dá)方式都是正確的：

請(qǐng)注意以下兩點(diǎn)：
1. 句3中的省略的是that或which，因?yàn)橐龑?dǎo)詞作從句的賓語(yǔ)，而例1中句3省略的是in which或that，引導(dǎo)詞是從句的方式狀語(yǔ)。區(qū)別這兩種情況首先應(yīng)判斷引導(dǎo)詞是從句的賓語(yǔ)還是原因狀語(yǔ)，然后再判斷用什么引導(dǎo)詞或是否可以省略。
2. 同樣是the way做先行詞，但是定語(yǔ)從句的引導(dǎo)詞不同，可見引導(dǎo)詞并非由先行詞決定，從上面的解題過程可以看出，決定用什么引導(dǎo)詞要看引導(dǎo)詞在從句中是何成分，句子成分影響引導(dǎo)詞的詞性，當(dāng)然也影響著引導(dǎo)詞的選擇。

解析：答案為A項(xiàng)。句意為“令我吃驚的不是他說的話，而是他說話的方式”。根據(jù)句意可知the way前不用in，可排除B項(xiàng)和C項(xiàng)。the way是先行詞，he said it為定語(yǔ)從句，邏輯語(yǔ)序?yàn)閔e said it ______，引導(dǎo)詞為從句的方式狀語(yǔ)，可用in which、that或省略。D項(xiàng)的錯(cuò)誤在于把引導(dǎo)詞誤用為從句的賓語(yǔ)。

way 后面跟定語(yǔ)從句有三種形式。
(1) way + in which + 定語(yǔ)從句
例如：
She was pleased with the way in which he had accepted her criticism.
(2) way + that +定語(yǔ)從句
例如：
They didn’t do it in the way that we do now.
(3) way + 定語(yǔ)從句
例如：
He didn’t speak the way I do.

這是定語(yǔ)從句連接詞that的特殊用法，這里的that為關(guān)系副詞，在從句中不做任何成分;而which無(wú)此用法，which必須在從句中充當(dāng)成分。
