美國駐華大使新年致辭

Da Jia Hao! Mona and I would like to take this opportunity to greet our friends here in China and our old friends back home in America. The Chinese lunar new year is a time for people to return to their laojia, reunite with family, and gather around a holiday meal with loved ones and friends.

大家好！李蒙和我想借此機會，問候我們在中國及美國國內(nèi)的朋友。中國農(nóng)歷新年是人們回老家，與家人團圓，與索愛的人和朋友聚在一起共享節(jié)日大餐的時刻。

Those born in the year of the snake are said to be marked by wisdom and determination. In line with this tradition, 2017 should also be a year of new beginnings for the US and China as new leaders in both countries join together to forge stronger Asia-pacific relations.

據(jù)說蛇年出生的人的標志是智慧和決心。與傳統(tǒng)相應，隨著美中新領導人一起鑄造更強的亞太關系，2017年也應該是新開始的一年。

40 years ago, President Nixon came to China and ushered in a new era of relations between our two great countries. That became the relationship that has existed almost since the very founding of the United States. Indeed, America launched our trading relationship with China only two years after the end of our war of the independence, when the United States first sent a trading ship to one of the world's oldest and most vibrant civilizations.

40年前，尼克松總統(tǒng)來到中國，開啟了我們兩國關系的新時代，這個新時代重新點燃幾乎從美國成立之初就已存在的關系。事實上，美國在我們的獨立戰(zhàn)爭結束后僅兩年就開始了我們與中國的貿(mào)易關系。當時美國第一次派出了貿(mào)易船到世界上最古老和最有活力的文明之一。

Our connection was cemented by the tireless labor and entrepreneurial spirit of the Chinese immigrants who came to the United States to realize their dreams of prosperity.

Their contribution to the construction of the transcontinental railroad helped America become a proceeding power by the end of the 19th century.

我們的聯(lián)系因中國移民的不懈勞動和創(chuàng)業(yè)精神而得到鞏固，這些移民為了實現(xiàn)他們的繁榮夢想來到美國，他們?yōu)闄M貫大陸的鐵路建設做出的貢獻幫助美國在19世紀末成為太平洋強國。

We fought together in World War II to restore peace and prosperity to East Asia. Today, our scientists and engineers are working together to cure diseases, solve the resource challenges that face our world, and leave our planet a better place for our children and their children.

Here in China, we are proud to represent the millions of Chinese Americans and Americans of all heritages who appreciate the values of family and community that the Chinese new year embodies so well.

XinNianKuai Le! Mona and I would like to extend our best wishes to everyone here in China and our friends and family back home in America as we celebrate the Chinese New Year. This is a special time of a year, many people returning to their Laojia, reuniting with family and enjoying a holiday meal with loved ones and friends.

新年快樂！在我們慶祝中國新年之際，李蒙和我想祝福中國這里的每個人和我們在美國國內(nèi)的朋友和家人。這是一年中特別的時刻，許多人返回老家，與家人團聚，與親朋好友共享節(jié)日大餐。

People born in the Year of the Horse are known for strength and vigor. This past year has been an important one for new relationships to form between the United States and China. We are optimistic that in 2017 we will continue to see further strengthening of these relationships.

眾所周知，馬年出生的人有力量和活力，過去一年是形成美中新關系的重要一年。我們樂觀地認為，2017年我們將繼續(xù)看到此關系的進一步加強。

Although Mona and I will soon be departing for our hometown of Seattle, we will continue to actively promote people-to-people relationship between our two great countries. We've all worked so well together in these past two and half years. US officials, Chinese officials, members of the business community in both our countries, to say nothing of the students, educators, journalists, artists and athletes bringing our two countries closer together in a million different ways. We've accomplished a lot together and I'm optimistic about what the future holds.

雖然李蒙和我將很快離開這里回到我們的家鄉(xiāng)西雅圖，但我們將繼續(xù)積極推動我們兩個偉大國家人民與人民之間的關系。在過去兩年半的時間里，我們大家的努力都很出色。美國官員、中國官員以及我們兩國的商界成員，更不用說學生、教育工作者、記者、藝術家和運動員，他們以千萬種不同的方式將我們兩國聯(lián)系得更加緊密。我們已經(jīng)一起做到了很多，我對未來感到樂觀。

The kids and I have been enjoying the great adventures we had in China, reconnecting with family members in Shanghai and Taishan, and working with Chinese and American friends to increase people-to-people exchange. It has been our family's greatest honor to represent the millions of Chinese Americans as well as all Americans who appreciate the value of family and community that the Chinese new year is embodied so well.

在過去的這一年里，孩子們和我享受我們在中國的大冒險，重新聯(lián)系上上海和臺山的家人，并與中國和美國的朋友一同合作，增加人民間的交流。數(shù)百萬華裔美國人以及所有美國人欣
