Today I had a good time. It was my grandpa's birthday. Our family went back to his home to celebrate his birthday. My mother cooked many delicious food and we brought a big birthday cake. We got together to have a big family dinner. We gave grandpa some presents and said, "Happy birthday to you!" In the afternoon we went boating in the park. We enjoyed ourselves, and my grandpa had a nice time on his birthday.

It was Christmas Day yesterday. I had a good time with my friends. We had a Christmas party at school. Many friends of mine came to the party. After we said"Merry Christmas", we began to sing Christmas songs, such as Edelweiss, andso on. Then we told some Christmas stories, such as Christmas Father. Then I danced and laughted with my friends. We all had a good time. When the party came to the end,we said "Happy New Year" to each other. We made up our mind that we would study hard to make great progress in the coming year.

The bell rang and the class was over. Many classmates jumped up from the seat. The classroom became noisy. Some students went out of the classroom. I was just chatting with some of my classmates when Li Hong came to me. She smiled and said to me, "What's four minus four? Do you know?" "It's zero. That is easy." answered I. But Li Hong shook her head and said "It's wrong. It's eight." "Why? That's impossible!" "You will understand if you cut down four corners of a desk." said Li Hong. "Is that a joke?" "Oh, yes." We all laughed. During the class break, we had a good rest. Our class break was often full of fun and laughter. We often have a pleasant break.

My Happy Times During Winter Vacation
I often go to see my grandma and grandpa during winter vacation. They are both seventy years old and live in the country happily. I can do many interesting things there. I am used to getting up early in the morning and breathing the fresh air in the countryside. After snow, I would like to skate and ski with my friends. When night comes, I am used to sitting by the fire and listening to grandma telling me many funny stories. And I tell her some new things happening in the city. When I have to go back, I am always reluctant to go. I really feel happy living in the country.

Yesterday was my thirteenth birthday. My parents had a birthday party for me. I invited my friends to my party. My parents bought new clothes and some books as my birthday presents. How happy I felt when I put on the new clothes!
When all my friends arrived, my mother brought delicious food and a big birthday cake. My father gave me new clothes and some books as presents. I was moved to tears. My friends sang "Happy birthday to you!" and gave me some presents. Then we began to eat. It was my happiest day. I had a wonderful birthday.
昨天是我13歲的生日，我的父母為我舉辦了生日宴會(huì)，我邀請(qǐng)了我的朋友來(lái)參加。我的'父母為我買了新衣服和書(shū)作為生日禮物。我穿著新衣服時(shí)感覺(jué)好幸福。

The time for New Year resolutions is here again. But is it worth the pain to make resolutions?
As the New Year gets closer, it is the time for people to make resolutions. There will promises about living a better life: losing weight, eating more healthy foods, exercising and more. The problem is that these resolutions don’t travel beyond January. Is it worth it at all?
One will agree that making New Year resolutions have become a formality. It doesn’t matter whether they are followed or not. It is just like eating turkey on Thanksgiving Day. Like goes on as usual after a resolution is made.
There is a way of living that can remove the deception of New Year resolution.
Be frank with yourself
There is no need deceiving yourself. If you know very well you don’t carry out New Year resolutions, don’t make one at all. You give yourself too much guilty conscience by making promises that you can’t keep. It reduces your self esteem as you turn to see yourself as good for nothing. Be frank
with yourself and free your mind from the gimmick.
Live everyday as if there is no other
The division of time into years and moths are human. Free yourself from these artificial creations and live like a person. New Years will come and go. Nothing makes January 1 more special than May 10. They all have 24 hours. Make daily resolutions rather.
Do the right thing once you get to know it
You must live the best life every moment. If you know eating a kind of food is not healthy, don’t wait till New Year’s Eve before you say you want to stop eating it. Stop it immediately. Life and health knows no holiday. Doing what is good should not wait for a particular day.
When you follow these guidelines you will save yourself the bad feeling of not carrying out New Year resolutions.

Far and away the most important holiday in China is Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese New Year.
To the Chinese people it is as important as Christmas to people in the West. the dates for this annual celebration are determined by the lunar calendar rather than the GREgorian calendar, so the timing of the holiday varies from late January to early February.
To the ordinary Chinese, the festival actually begins on the eve of the lunar New Year's Day and ends on the fifth day of the first month of the lunar calendar.
But the 15th of the first month, which normally is called the Lantern Festival, means the official end of the Spring Festival in many parts of the country.

New Year resolution
When it comes to New Year resolution, everyone has his or her own plan to change the way of life. As for me, when New Year is around the corner, there are also many ideas popping in my mind.
First and foremost, I will try my best to get rid of my shortcomings. For instance, sometimes when encountering frustrations, I am prone to lose heart. So I will endeavor to be more diligent and perseverant and learn to change the difficulties into impetus. Second, for the book is the ladder of human progress, it is necessary for me to spend more time reading books which can broaden my horizons. Last but not least, I’d like to participate in some activities for the sake of making my college time more meaningful and colorful, which to some degree is intimately attached to the ability of verbal expression and interpersonal skills.
All in all, New Year is a new start of our life, what we should do is making a well preparation. Just as the going says “success occurs when preparations meet opportunities”.
