Part I Listening Comprehension ( 25%)
Section A
Directions: In this section, you will hear 10 short conversations. At the end of each conversation, a question will be asked about what was said. Both the conversation and the question will be spoken only once. After each question there will be a pause. During the pause, you must read the four choices marked A, B, C, and D, and decide which is the best answer. Then mark the corresponding letter on the Answer Sheet with a single line through the center.
Section B
Directions: In this section, you will hear a long conversation. At the end of the conversation, you will hear some questions. Both the conversation and the question will be spoken only once. After you hear a question, you must choose the best answer from the four choices marked A,B,C and D. Then mark the corresponding letter on the Answer Sheet with a single line through the center.
Section C
Directions: In this section, you will hear one short passage. At the end of the passage, you will hear some questions. Both the passage and the question will be spoken only once. After you hear a question, you must choose the best answer from the four choices marked A,B,C and D. Then mark the corresponding letter on the Answer Sheet with a single line through the center.
Section D
Directions: In this section, you will hear a passage three times. When the passage is read for the first time, you should listen carefully for its general idea. When the passage is read for the second time, you are required to fill in the blanks with the exact word you have just heard. Finally, when the passage is read for the third time, you should check what you have written.
Part II Vocabulary and Structure (10%)
Directions: There are 20 incomplete sentences in this part. For each sentence there are four choices marked A), B), C) and D). Choose the ONE answer that best completes the sentence. Then mark the corresponding letter on the Answer Sheet with a single line through the center.
Part III Reading Comprehension (Skimming and Scanning) (10%)
Directions: In this part, you will go over one passage quickly and answer the questions.
Do the following statements agree with information given in the text?
In blanks 1—5 write
Y for YES, if the statement agrees with the information;
N for NO, if the statement contradicts the information;
NG for NOT GIVEN, if there is no information on this in the text.
Part IV Reading Comprehension (Reading in Depth) ( 30 %)
Section A (10%)
Directions: In this section there is a passage with 10 blanks. You are required to select one word for each blank from a list of choices given in a word bank following the passage. Read the passage carefully before making your choices. You must not use any of the words in the bank more than once. Then write your answer on the Answer Sheet.
Section B
Directions: There are two passages in this section. Each passage is followed by some questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four choices marked A, B, C, and D. You should decide on the best choice and mark the corresponding letter on the Answer Sheet with a single line through the center.
Part V Cloze(10%)
Directions: There are a number of blanks in the following passage. For each blank there are four choices marked A), B), C) and D). You should choose the ONE that best fits into the passage. Then mark the corresponding letter on the Answer Sheet with a single line through the centre.
