　　Working at home using computers or telephones is better than working in the office.

　　In modern life,important inventions such as computers and telephones have exerted a significant effect on our daily life,especially the way of working.Recently there is a hot debate over the issue which is better,working at home using computers and telephones or working at the office.As far as I am concerned,I have preference for the former one with the following reasons.

　　First and foremost,working at home by using computers and telephones will benefit employees in many aspects.For one thing,this way of working enables employees to have more flexible working schedule.With the help of computers and telephones,staffs have easy access to the files and documents needed in the process of working on a project without going out.For another,the time and money spent in commuting between company and home can be saved.This is especially true of those people who live in the cities with heavy traffic.For example,many people working in Beijing have to get up very early in the morning to take the over crowded subway or bus to their working places.This problem can be solved by working at home.Besides,working at home provides employees much more comfortable working environment.Compared with the narrow and separated working area,home is a better place with more space and less noise.

　　What’s more,employers will another beneficiary from the practice of working at home.On one hand,provided that more and more employees choose telecommuting,the company’s cost in office and equipments will drop dramatically.To be specific,the overhead of running a company include various bills,such as utilities,computers and office space,which will be saved by telecommuting.On the other hand,working independently at home will improve the working efficiency,which makes more profits for the company.According to a survey conducted by the department of psychology in Boston University,people will work more efficiently under the condition that there was no interruption from others.Thus the reduction of cost and the improvement of working efficiency are combined to earn more revenues for the employers.

　　Admittedly,some opponents may argue that working in office will enhance people’s social skills by communicating with colleagues and boss,while working at home may alienate the relationship with coworkers.However,the above reason does not bear further analysis.Working at home does not means that telecommuters at home have no chances to communicate with others.In fact,by using the electronic gadgets such as computers and phones,they are more likely to meet a larger group of people from all walks of life,thus acquiring stronger social skills.

　　From what has been discussed above,it is safe to draw a conclusion that it is much better to work at home using computers and telephones than to work in office.

　　Should a person with an incurable illness spend his last days in a hospital where he or she can receive the best possible medical care?Or should this person be permitted to die at home?These two questions are difficult to answer and may cause some heated arguments.My view is that we have to consider two different situations and make our decisions accordingly.

　　The first possible situation is that the patient is still conscious and able to express himself.In this case,we should talk to him and find out his own opinion.If he wishes to stay in a hospital,we should send him there and try to get the best medical care for him no matter how much it will cost.If he wants to stay at home,we should show respect for his opinion and do our best at home for him no matter how troublesome it may be.The rationale of this view is that the best we can do for a dying person is to satisfy his last wishes except when he wants anthanasia in a country in which it is still illegal.

　　The other possible situation is that the patient is no longer able to express himself.In this case,it is better to let him stay at home and spend his last days with his relatives.This view is based on the following considerations.This first is that since the patient is going to die anyway,it is better for him to die at home instead of a place where his relatives are not allowed to stay with him all the time.The second is that it would be a waste of money,time,and energy to hospitalize the patient.The third is that what a hospital can do for a dying person can only bring more suffering to him.For instance,operations or intravenous drips are useless and painful and fist aids applied to him can only make him live longer to suffer more.The best thing a hospital can do is to reduce his pains in his last days,but this can also be done at home.

　　In short,my view is that when the questions are considered objectively,the answer is clear: it is better for him,for his relatives,and for society if the patient stays and dies at home.However,as human beings,we cannot discuss a patient without emotional considerations.To fully understand this position,we can just imagine how we would feel if one of our realties were suffering from an incurable illness.

　　Next factor why I choose Yuan Longpin is because one of his characters: industrious.In the process of experiments,Mr.Yuan,as old as 60,in spite of the hot sunshine or pouring storms,seed,water and fertilize in the field.Moreover,he had traveled almost every corner of whole country to find the most suitable weather and soil condition.By his thousands of trial plants,the plantation of the new grain is successful.Now it is mass produced all over the country.From this,I know that success is based on sweat and struggle.

　　An additional reason is his providing of education for the young generations.Yuan donated to build 3 middle schools in his hometown.Meanwhile,he told the students the knowledge is the most powerful force to change the poor fate.Now hundreds of students educated there has graduated from universities and be main forces in diverse industries.

　　Admittedly,there are also other persons in history who should gain respect from us in that they had impulsed our society to develop in all aspects.But I would rather say that the enough food is the basis of other activities.It is Yuan longpin who make it came to true,therefore,whom I want to meet is him.

　　To sum up,all the factors mentioned above weave into an organic whole and thus be more convincible.All the values we gained from YUAN LONGPIN will definitely benefit to not only me but also every Chinese people.This also leads to my original propensity.

　　What about knowledge other than professional expertise for example,knowledge about another culture?In this realm as well,both books and real life experience enrich and edify us.For example,Paris is perhaps the most talked about and written about city in the world.We could read Hemingways A Moveable Feast,in which he describes the excitement and intellectual spirit as well as the restaurants and plentiful red wine of Paris in the 1920s.Or,we could travel to Paris and eat at bistros,walk across the Pont Neuf and look at the river Seine,visit the Louvre museum,and have adventures of our own.Clearly,most people would have attained more lasting and vivid knowledge by visiting Paris on their own rather than reading about it secondhand.

　　In summary,experience,rather than books,is more central to our quest for learning,especially with regard to professional expertise.With regard to learning about another culture,experience is also irreplaceable.Yet not everyone in the world will have the health or financial resources to carry out a trip to Paris.But many people have access to a local library where they can borrow A Moveable Feast and,at no cost,read Hemingways vibrant descriptions of Paris.We cannot forget the complementary and unique knowledge afforded by books,but experience is the most precious source of knowledge.
