人”,這不就是“代表”的意思嗎!這么去認(rèn)識一個(gè)單詞才是真正“認(rèn)識”了這個(gè)單詞,把它認(rèn)識到了骨子里。
再舉一個(gè)例子吧:psychology。psy=sci,是一個(gè)偏旁部首,是“知道”的意思;cho是一個(gè)偏旁部首,是“心”的意思;lo是一個(gè)偏旁部首,是“說”的意思;gy是一個(gè)偏旁部首,是“學(xué)”的意思,logy合起來是“學(xué)說”的意思。因此psy-cho-logy連起來就是“知道心的學(xué)說”,因此就是“心理學(xué)”的意思。
依此類推,不多舉例了,我要表達(dá)的觀點(diǎn)已經(jīng)清楚了,那就是,不要去死記硬背單詞的漢語意思,而要用識別“偏旁部首”的方法去真正認(rèn)識一個(gè)單詞,真正認(rèn)識了單詞后,你會發(fā)現(xiàn)單詞表里的漢語翻譯原來其實(shí)很勉強(qiáng),有時(shí)甚至根本翻譯不出來,因?yàn)闈h語和英語是兩種不同的文字體系,兩者在文字上本來就不是一一對應(yīng)的,只背英語單詞的漢字意思是不能真正認(rèn)識這個(gè)單詞的,會造成很多的后續(xù)學(xué)習(xí)困難,會造成你一輩子看英語單詞如霧里看花,永遠(yuǎn)有退不掉的陌生感。
那么接下來的問題是,英語里有多少個(gè)“偏旁部首”,怎樣知道和學(xué)會它們?回答這個(gè)問題時(shí)我才發(fā)現(xiàn)中國人對英語偏旁部首陌生的兩個(gè)主要原因,一是這些重要內(nèi)容不在學(xué)校的英語教材當(dāng)中,大家在課堂上學(xué)不到(這是目前學(xué)校英語教材急需彌補(bǔ)的缺陷);二是少數(shù)書店里銷售的有關(guān)這方面內(nèi)容的書過分復(fù)雜化,動(dòng)轍幾百上千頁,內(nèi)容苦澀龐大,影響了這些常識的普及,使得本來是常識的東西不常識。其實(shí)英語里偏旁部首的學(xué)名叫“字根”,常用的也就二百多個(gè),它們就像26個(gè)字母一樣普通而重要,就像漢語里的偏旁部首那樣普通而重要,它們是學(xué)英語第一課里就應(yīng)該學(xué)習(xí)的重要內(nèi)容,學(xué)英語者應(yīng)及早地掌握這些重要的常識,及早地?cái)[脫死記硬背的蠻干狀態(tài),及早地進(jìn)入科學(xué)、高效的識字狀態(tài)。
