　　If you have enough time, the best way to learn about a city is to explore the streets and alleys yourself on foot or by bike. Before setting off, I would usually get a guidebook or do a lot of research online, studying the maps, browsing comments and journals about the city from experienced backpackers. Some of the tips are really insightful and can save tons of time and quite some money as well, for instance, always avoid restaurants teaming with expats and follow the locals for the most authentic and fairly-priced food. It makes a lot of sense. Born and raised in the city, the local people are experts better than any museums and any travel agency, they know the history, they speak the language, and their presence is the culture itself. While you would probably find yourself visiting the most touristy or expensive parts the city, if you go to the travel agency to sign up for a trip.

　　I would prefer to attend an organized tour. Coz first, it makes our trip more efficient. People’s lives are hectic nowadays, we have to deal with various workloads, and are always running out of time for deadlines, an organized tour is just a time saver, which covers every aspect of a trip, like the passport, the air ticket and hotel reservation, our life will be so much easier with all those concerns taken care of; second, it would be interesting to go with a bunch of people, also more enjoyable and much safer, we can take care of each other, exchange ideas on the new city, and perhaps make good friends with each other, that would be cool.

　　練習(xí)口語的基礎(chǔ)是一定的詞匯量，如果詞匯量不夠的話，哪怕發(fā)音再好，在講英語的時(shí)候還是會(huì)缺少表達(dá)的工具。所以如果你總是有一種感覺，在講英語的時(shí)候，經(jīng)常缺少一些必須的詞匯，那么你先需要做的是找一本適合自己的單詞書，或者下載背單詞的軟件，鞏固自己的詞匯基礎(chǔ)。打一個(gè)最簡(jiǎn)單的比方，比如你想表達(dá)“我今天有很多作業(yè)/ I have a lot of homework today”，如果你不知道作業(yè)的英文是什么的話，這句話很難被表達(dá)出來；而如果你掌握了這些基礎(chǔ)的單詞，并想擴(kuò)展自己的.表達(dá)，來抒發(fā)“今天的作業(yè)很有挑戰(zhàn)性/ The homework for today is challenging”，哪怕你暫時(shí)不知道challenging這個(gè)單詞，你還是有其他辦法來表達(dá)這個(gè)作業(yè)的挑戰(zhàn)性，比如“I have to think a lot for today's homework”。這個(gè)例子證明，口語和單詞量沒有絕對(duì)的關(guān)系，單詞量沒有很大還是可以表達(dá)出自己的意思，但擁有基礎(chǔ)的詞匯量還是必須的。

　　如果想繼續(xù)提高自己的口語，讓自己的詞匯表達(dá)更加得體、簡(jiǎn)潔或者優(yōu)美，當(dāng)然還是需要繼續(xù)學(xué)習(xí)新的單詞。在背單詞的路上我也走過一些彎路。之前在準(zhǔn)備托福的時(shí)候，我常常在背單詞的時(shí)候就只記單詞和其對(duì)應(yīng)的意思，但我發(fā)現(xiàn)這樣的背單詞方法最多讓我在做閱讀時(shí)能看懂一個(gè)單詞的意思，但如果要將新學(xué)的單詞運(yùn)用到寫作或者口語里，很多時(shí)間我不知道怎么運(yùn)用。后來我開始用另一種方法背單詞，就是我會(huì)在記單詞意思的同時(shí)查閱這個(gè)單詞具體的用法，這回幫助我之后真正使用這個(gè)單詞。比如同樣compatible這個(gè)單詞，如果光記意思的話，只是“兼容的”意思，但通過查詢單詞的用法，可以得知compatible后面應(yīng)該跟著with來使用，并且這個(gè)單詞同時(shí)可以表示理念信仰興趣和電子產(chǎn)品的兼容。
